Africa-Press – Lesotho. Prince Harry will be inducted at the 21st Living Legends of Aviation Awards, according to the ceremony’s website. The Duke of Sussex previously served as a helicopter pilot in the British Army, where he flew training missions in the US, UK and Australia, according to People.
Between 2007 to 2008 and 2012 to 2013, he was also involved in operational tours in the war in Afghanistan, which started in 2001 when the US invaded the country.
In 2009, Prince Harry began training to become an Army Air Corps pilot and, in 2013, qualified as an Apache Aircraft Commander, according to the UK Royals website.
He was also promoted to the rank of captain in 2011. The 39-year-old prince will be honoured on 19 January in Beverly Hills, along with three other people.
The event will be hosted by actor John Travolta, with other guests like Kenny G and William Shatner attending. The organisation’s website defines Living Legends of Aviation as “admirable people of remarkable accomplishment in aviation”.
