Africa-Press – Lesotho. Many have converged at Lerotholi Polytechnic (LP), where Prince Lerotholi Mohato Seeiso will be inaugurated as the institution’s first Chancellor.

Lerotholi aged 18 is the heir apparent to the Mountain Kingdom throne (future King), the third child and only son of King Letsie III and Queen ‘Masenate Seeiso, Prince Lerotholi is traditionally believed to carry hopes of a nation on his young shoulders. From his royal lineage to his future responsibilities.

His birth marks security in the line of succession, thus making sure that the royal family’s legacy continues.

Prince Lerotholi is named after Lerotholi, the Paramount Chief of Basotho who reigned from 1891 to 1905.

This name is reported to carry historical importance and connects the young prince to his ancestors.

Prince Lerotholi has two older sisters, Princess Senate and Princess ‘M’aSeeiso.

In an interview with one of the students at LP, Taelo Ts’enki, who is in Tourism Management expressed gratitude they have a youth as the first Chancellor.

“We are hopeful that this is the beginning of good things to come and the end of endless strikes in our institution, we believe he brings new and positive energy to problems facing us.”

Lerotholi Polytechnic was formed in 1905, stemming from Paramount Chief Lerotholi Letsie’s vision in 1894 for a technical school in Lesotho, with fundraising starting in 1898.
