Africa-Press – Lesotho. Monday’s public gathering at Mokhotlong has been regarded by attendants as one of the most successful as people from different places in the district attended in larger numbers.
The purpose of the public gathering organised by Roads Directorate under the Ministry of Public Works and Transport which was basically to introduce four Contractors engaged by the Directorate for the rehabilitation of the road from Ha Kotsia to Mokhotlong Hospital and from Mokhotlong Hospital to Malefiloane in the district, saw young and old, male and female attending with the hope for employment.
Those interviewed by the agency said they came with high expectations that they were going to register for employment there and then.
They even carried their National Identification Documents (IDs) with them to show how ready they were for employment.
They explained that they are hungry for employment and expressed hope that they will be among those that will be recruited for rehabilitation work of the aforementioned roads.
Among those interviewed were Ts’epo Ntsiki and Ntana Selonyane from Ntsiking, a village in the outskirts of Mokhotlong said there is need for rehabilitation of the road to Malefiloane adding that they will appreciate if they could also be hired to address some of the socio economic needs they are facing.
The introduction of Contractors was led by the Minister of Public Works and Transport Mr Matjato Moteane while recruitment related issues was a business for another day.
