Africa-Press – Lesotho. As food prices continue to rise, many Basotho are struggling to cope with the financial strain. Consumers, farmers, and business owners alike are feeling the impact of economic decline, forcing them to make tough adjustments to survive.
Mrs. ‘Malehooana Mabote, a local resident, has taken matters into her own hands by planting a variety of vegetables.
“Growing my own food helps me cut costs, manage my spending, and afford other essential expenses, including school fees,” she said.
She encourages Basotho to embrace self-reliance through food production.
However, for vegetable farmer Mr. Bofihlile Thejane, the declining economy presents a different challenge. He is forced to sell his produce at lower prices to avoid waste, leading to financial losses.
“What keeps me going is my passion for farming and the ability to produce my own food rather than buying,” he stated.
