Africa-Press – Lesotho. The Revenue Services Lesotho (RSL) celebrated a major milestone with the graduation of the first-ever cohort of the RSL Cadet Programme. The event, facilitated by the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF), marks a significant step in developing a generation of disciplined, service-driven, and ethical revenue officers dedicated to nation-building and effective public service delivery.

She extended heartfelt congratulations on behalf of RSL Management to all staff members who successfully completed the first leg of this initiative, describing their achievement as not only personal but also a collective victory for the organisation.

“This programme was no walk in the park. It demanded more than participation; it required commitment, focus, and perseverance.

We were pushed beyond our limits, leaving behind the comfort of our offices, homes, and daily routines to take part in something new, challenging, and profoundly meaningful,” she said.

The CG further noted that through the process, participants learned invaluable lessons in teamwork, leadership, discipline, and service. The training, she added, strengthened unity among staff across all 16 serials that took part in the initiative.

“We came out stronger as a unit across all the serials. We came out better. We came out ready to serve our nation with renewed energy and purpose,” she added.

She the lessons gained from the programme are already transforming the organisation’s culture and performance, fostering collaboration, resilience, and commitment to public service excellence.

“The positive impact of this programme is visible in our work culture and performance.

It has reshaped how we think, how we collaborate, and how we approach our mandate as the tax administration,” she said. “Each of us has a role to play in building a stronger Lesotho.

“The Education Programme aims to instil patriotism and tax education among learners, nurturing responsible citizenship and creating awareness about the importance of taxation in national development from an early age,” she said.

“We want our young people to grow up understanding that taxes build nations, and that responsible citizenship begins with contributing to the common good,” she added.

On behalf of the LDF, Major General Matumelo Ramoqopo expressedunwavering commitment to the partnership and ongoing collaboration with the RSL. She emphasised that the training undertaken by the RSL staff demanded both physical and mental endurance.

She that being able to follow command is not an easy task, especially for individuals who enter the training already well-established and knowledgeable in their respective fields.

“I can tell that you have learned a lot,” she said, commending their resilience and determination throughout the programme.

“The way you performed the drill proves that you have grown in discipline, teamwork, and focus.

Major General Ramoqopo went on to advise the RSL staff to always remember the significance of their work and the profound responsibility they carry as public servants.

She reminded them that their roles go beyond administrative duties — they are, in fact, a vital part of the nation’s backbone, ensuring the proper collection of revenue that sustains Lesotho’s development.

“I urge all of you to remember your values, as they will ensure that you know your mandate and the people you serve,” she stated.

“Let integrity, humility, and patriotism guide you in every task, because the service you provide is for Basotho, the men, women, and children who depend on a strong and accountable institution like RSL.

She concluded by reaffirming the LDF’s readiness to continue working hand in hand with the RSL, strengthening the shared vision of discipline, unity, and service excellence that both institutions uphold for the advancement of the Kingdom of Lesotho.

On behalf of the trainees, Liteboho Moekena RSL expressed heartfelt gratitude for the training they received stating that they will carry what they have learned to their respective workstations.

“When we choose integrity even when no one is watching, when we stand by our teammates and build each other up, when we serve with pride and love for our country, that is when we build not just a stronger organisation but a better nation,” said Moekena.

He concluded by pledging that they continue to practice and build a culture where values are lived and not just spoken where doing what is right becomes who they are, not merely what they do.
