Africa-Press – Lesotho. Finalists of the popular South African television show, 2016 SA Idols, Noma Khumalo and Thami Shobede, are expected to be in the country next weekend on Saturday.
The news was broken to Informative Arts&Lifestyle by Refiloe Mohlotsane, Sales and Marketing Manager of DSTV Service Centre Lesotho, who confirmed of the coming of Noma and Thami, last year’s South African Idols finalists, alongside the show’s host Proverb on the 12th of August 2017.
According to Mohlotsane the occasion will be a free attendance event and will kick-start at 0900hrs at Maseru Mall and that the event is meant to entertain Basotho and promote subscriptions to the DSTV Compact package in a more engaging manner.
“We are used to seeing SA Idols and the stars on TV therefore this is a chance for Basotho to experience idols at a closer level,” Mohlotsane explained.
She further explained that although Lesotho is not eligible for auditions to the idols competition, a singing contest will be held on Saturday whereby Noma and Thami will pose as judges and participants of the competition will win prizes on the spot.
However, Mohlotsane clarified that “the goal is to eventually see Basotho competing in the main Idols competition in the long run” after Saturday’s event and who knows, Lesotho might be represented on the prestigious TV talent show in future.

“DSTV Service Centre in Lesotho thrives on good service.
I have come to realise and embrace that good service is the main strategy to grow your business,” Mohlotsane responded when asked to address the growth niche of the organization by the Informative Arts&Lifestyle this week.
Following its official centre launch in October last year, Multichoice Lesotho has shown activity in the entertainment industry in various ways. This was done through engaging with its followers through offering prizes such as fully paid expenses trip to the Durban July event and attendance to the Mother & Daughter Benefit, she said.
“Following the daytime event, there will be a night event at Cuban Linx where prizes will be up for grabs as well.
Social Media and helplines are open for more inquiries. Please note that the Idols candidates will not be present at Cuban Linx,” Mohlotsane clarified.
Prizes to be won on the day of the event, she said, will be disclosed to the participants of the singing competition and the DSTV subscribers that upgrade to the Compact package or higher, reconnections and new connections will also get prizes and these will include DSTV Explora decoders, HD decoders, TV sets, cash and many more.
South African Idols has been running for the past eight seasons and auditions are currently underway in various provinces in SA to choose the next contestants for the show.
Noma and Thami became household names in South Africa last year when they became finalists in the most watched TV talent show in South Africa, Lesotho and the rest of Africa.
Noma Khumalo eventually snatched the Idols SA crown from crowd favourite Thami Shobede at a tense finale held at Carnival City in Brakpan, east of Johannesburg in November 2016.
