Mr Mohlolo Lerotholi, pastor of the Department of Home Affairs, said the issue of human trafficking was clear in the appendix to the 2011 Constitution of Lesotho that it was a criminal offense.
“Trafficking in human beings is done by a person to an acquaintance who weighs him down with a particular focus on the needs of such a person and what his preferences are.
“Children fall into the same trap as their shepherds, and this is especially true of vulnerable children who are subjected to them in a subconscious way,” Mohlolo explained.
He added that after the children were subjected to the effects of prostitution or the possibility of being killed, the teachers warned that if teachers did not see the child regularly at school, they would ask questions. to take action.
Lebohang Motsie, speaking on behalf of the school children, pointed out that children have recently been at risk of being abducted and trafficked and that these incidents are known to be perpetrated by foreigners even if they are not.
“I appeal to you and my fellow students to walk in small groups so that we can protect each other. By doing so we will avoid finding ourselves a victim, not taking care of ourselves because self-preservation is better than medicine, ”he said.
