Africa-Press – Lesotho. Green growth is one of the aspects the 2025 SEBABATSO youth conference is advocating for, in a bid to achieve Sustainable Development Goals as well as Agenda 2063.
Green growth is said to be a concept or otherwise strategy seeking to achieve economic development and improved wellbeing, academia’s talking to the issue of bridging the green growth industry and sustainable future at the ongoing conference have shown.
Mr. Hlabathe Posholi, Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT) Lecturer, said the need to come up with green growth solutions research remains vital for sustainability.
He added these researches must be in alignment with the 2022 Research and Innovation Policy. “This will help us know and assist industry needs.” He stressed.
Ms. ‘Mamarabe Sello from BEDCO called on the government and the private sector to also put in incentives, empower those already in the business and attract more.
Other matters touched on related to encouraging youth to engage in hoti-culture as a means of business, addressing poverty and hunger as well as attaining SDG’s.
Meanwhile, the Agency learnt the conference being broadcast live on different social media platforms also embraces the issue of talking to the deaf hence the presence of sign language interpreters on the podium to also bridge communication gaps for people with this type of disability.
SEBABATSO was introduced by Prime Minister Matekane in 2023 to strengthen youth business ideas and their ventures, over 3000 youth applications since its inception annually are received for those wanting to partake in the initiative.
