SEKOLA’S DEATH LOSS IN LESOTHO’S POLITICS

Africa-Press – Lesotho. The death of former Minister of Police and Public Safety, Mr. Lepota Sekola has left a void in Lesotho’s politics as he had a unique role and influence.

This was said by All Basotho Convention (ABC) Spokesperson, Mr. Mphonyane Lebesa in an interview with the Agency, saying Mr. Sekola joined politics in 2015 as an independent candidate, joined ABC in 2016 and won Makhaleng constituency in 2017 elections.

He added that he was not only a Minister but a former member of the Lesotho Defence Force and a businessman thus served Basotho in different areas of life.

He did not only ensure the welfare of the people of Makhaleng Constituency but the public in general,” he added, passing condolences to King Letsie III, former ABC Leader and Prime Ministers Mr. Motsoahae Thabane, Dr. Moeketsi Majoro, his family and the nation.

On the other hand, Democratic Congress (DC) Deputy leader, Mr. Motlalentoa Letsosa said although Mr. Sekola joined the party a few months ago, he had a significant influence in politics and served the nation in different areas of life, saying his death left a massive gap within the party.

Mr. Lepota Sekola died on Sunday (yesterday) after a short illness at the age of 62.

He was a politician and served in the government as the Deputy Minister of Water and that of Police. He joined ABC in 2016 and Joined DC in June this year.

He is survived by his wife and four children, three sons and a daughter.
