Seliane takes the crown for Miss Lesotho

With the aim to empower young girls, Miss Lesotho 2021 was chosen at a prestigious event held at ‘Manthabiseng Convention Center on Saturday following its failure in 2020 because of Covid-19.

A 24 year old Tiisetso Seliane from National University of Lesotho (NUL) was crowned among 9 finalists who made it in the top 10.

The Beauty Pageants Association of Lesotho National Director and head Organizer Molulela Monyake said she appreciates the undying support from everyone who worked hard in making the event a success.

“I honestly want to acknowledge the support we received. You are all appreciated and may you be blessed,” she said.

In an exclusive interview with Informative Newspaper Miss Lesotho’s first runner up Poelano Mothisi said that she is excited not only for herself but also for Miss Lesotho for acquiring her new crown. She added that she learnt that confidence is very important.

“I am very excited for myself and also for Miss Lesotho who is my roommate. One thing I take away from my journey of Miss Lesotho is that, it is with confidence and believing in yourself that you can achieve goals,” said Mothisi.

The Queen Tiisetso Seliane walked away with a whopping M10 000.00, a designer hand bag by Mojabeng Senegal-Ndebele worth M1 500.00 and an Internship with Lesotho Revenue Authority (LRA). Winners get the opportunity to have a night away in celebration of their victory while also discussing a way forward during their reign.

Sechaba Mokoqo, popularly known as Sir Sechaba, who was one of the judges, indicated that he was looking at how they conducted themselves on the stage and eyeing for someone who could match the title of the queen or the princess.

One of the top 10 finalists who was eliminated in the crowning indicated that every single finalist that participated in the pageant are queens even if they do not have crowns. She expressed gratitude formaking it to top 10, saying it was not easy.

The crowd was entertained by Sway, Royal J and Maya. Panel of judges comprised of Miss World 2013 ‘Mamahlape Matsoso, T’sepiso Issabella Mokobori, Mojabeng Senegal-Ndebele, Sir Sechaba and Founder and Executive Director of Sky Alpha HD Tello Leballo. The crown for Miss Lesotho 2021 is custom made in Lesotho by Basotho.

The Miss Lesotho was established in 1978 when the first winner, Joan Libuseng Khoali went to Miss Universe 1978 in Mexico. Lesotho is no longer participating for Miss Universe but since 1979, the main winner is able to participate at Miss World competition.
