Africa-Press – Lesotho. The political youth firebrand, ‘Machere Rose Seutloali took oath of allegiance as a Member of Parliament (MP) on Friday during the resumption of the august house from the

winter recess. Hon. Seutloali fills the shoes of Chief Thesele ‘Maseribane who resigned from the house to assume a new position as Lesotho Ambassador to Italy.

The 36 years old has chequered history in political journey. She has joined the Basotho National Party (BNP) as a teenager, at the age of 13 and rose through

the ranks to occupying leadership positions. She was the first female President of the BNP Youth League from 2015 to 2018. Hon. Seutloali has recently

contested in the race of the party’s leadership position following the expiration of the former leader, Chief ‘Maseribane. She has also made her mark in the international stage having been appointed as Southern African

Development Community (SADC) Youth Committee Chairperson. This youthful high achiever has served as a regional Secretary General of the Phenomenal African

Women, an affiliate of the International Youth Democratic Union. Hon. Seutloali has also been elected as a Future Team deputy Chairperson in charge of the Southern

African countries from 2019, a position she still holds. The March 3,, 2021 witnessed her election as a youth councillor at Maseru Municipality Council (MMC)

01 in Khubetsoana, Berea. In 2019, she attended the International Volunteer Forum which was held at Sochi, Russia. She was delegate in the

World Festival of Youth and Students (WFYS) in 2017 which was organised by the Democratic Youth hosted in Sochi, Russia. In 2018, she was an International Elections Observer in Irkurts region in Serbia.

2013 saw her ratify and adopt the 1st Commonwealth Youth Council Constitution as a Senior

Delegate for Commonwealth Youth Forum held in Sri Lanka. In that forum, she was also elected as an African region Representative. Hon. Seutloali had previously served as district Youth Treasurer. She attended the Skills Development Youth program in 2012 which was held in Mozambique.
