Africa-Press – Lesotho. The Metolong Dam in Lesotho has officially been handed over after succesful construction by Chinese company, Sinohydro.
The project department of Sinohydro received the handover certificate of the second stage program from the engineering supervisor, giving the water project the go-ahead after 5 years of construction.
The water supply program was funded by multiple partners including the Government of Lesotho and South Africa, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development and the World Bank. With the country currently experiencing drought, the dam aims to provide water to one-third of the country’s population.
