Africa-Press – Lesotho. The Lesotho Police Women’s Campaign which came into effect from May 18 to 20 reported on the successes it has achieved since the beginning of this year.

The Deputy Chief of Police of Lesotho (ACP) Bohang Lintle Phasumane, speaking at the event, said the campaign was attended by women police officers from the SADC region twice a year in May and November.

He said as women police officers of Lesotho, they entered it and it was for three days where they set up barracks, raided schools and villages where they taught and to make the public aware of the crimes that the Police Chiefs Association in their area have chosen to deal with.

Phasumane also explained that the main crimes they were facing were marital infidelity, beatings, attempted murder, trafficking in human trafficking and sexual assault.

“This is what the campaign is all about because they are the ones that often get involved in issues of violence against women and children,” she said.

Continuing to elaborate on their performance through the campaign, Phasumane pointed out that this year the success has been huge as they have pledged to reach 68% of their target. He said that when they started their campaign, they had 72 detainees who were involved in crime. great when they look at their performance.

Phasumane explained that in the scandal, they had four suspects before they started their campaign and only managed to catch one, of the victims who were looking for 24 people but they were holding only ten.

The perpetrators sought out six and succeeded in apprehending four, in the killings sought four suspects but arrested 14. “This is because we did not go on a campaign, even if no one appeared “As a wanted criminal, we will not give up on the criminal when we find him, that is why we have so many people,” he said.

He said the perpetrators had a total of 31 people wanted and they managed to get 19. He added that the abuse included people who had left the children. He said leaving a child in this caregiver was abusive and there they were looking for three people if they could find one.

He thanked the Basotho people for co-operating with them in cracking down on criminals and pointed out that it was the responsibility of every Mosotho to assist in the fight against crime.
