Africa-Press – Lesotho. Lioli Football Club (FC) ”Tse Nala” President Lebohang Thotanyana has been appointed as the Chairman of the Vodacom Lesotho Premier League (VPL) Chairman’s
forum on Thursday at Bambatha Tšita Sports Arena. In his remarks Thotanyana said in normal circumstances, there would be formal elections but he was appointed following
the Chairman’s vacancy in the VPL Chairman’s Forum. He said the vacancy was a result of Baba Malephane’s departure, who assumed the role of the Premier
League Management Committee (PLMC) Deputy Chairperson during the end of term elections last year. Thotanyana said he is honored and humbled for the opportunity to take part in the Lesotho football constitution amendment,
which is another task of the committee. “The plan is to develop our football and make a constitution that will assist us to create a professional football
in the country as this is the forum of the football clubs Presidents and our main duty as the watchdog of the league is to lead the way and make things
happen, so we hope and believe that we will work together with the Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) since its President Salemane Phafane is a member of
the committee. This is the high powered committee that will aid us to alter several activities,” he noted. Thotanyana said the football fraternity needs the leadership that will protect football in the current
health conditions. He said from the meetings, they discussed several areas that need a detailed focus, including the how to safely resume football and make the brand relevant.
He said they are yet to meet again and review suggestions on these points. He said the chairman’s forum will meet again in two weeks. Adding that they asked LeFA and the National Covid-19 Secretariat (NACOSEC) to review some of the rules and regulations like regular testing to ease their return to football tournaments.
