Berea, Jan. 29 — Six high-performing LGCSE candidates from two high schools in Berea District have been recognised with gifts such as include tablets and cash prizes for their academic excellence.
The awards were officially handed over on Thursday by the Berea District Administrator (DA), Mr Phahlane Makoko on behalf of benefactor Mr. Lebona Lephema.
Four tablets and a total of M4,000 were presented to the principal of Methodist High School for distribution to the institution’s top-performing students, Mangaka Masupha, Sepiriti Bokang, Matsipa Mpho and Palesa. Each learner is to receive a tablet and M1,000.
An additional two tablets and M2,000 were handed over to the principal of ’Malithuso High School for the school’s leading candidates, Tlhatlhosi Atlehang and Lenka Seabata, who will also each receive M1,000
Mr. Makoko stated that the awards were aimed at encouraging academic commitment and recognising the dedication demonstrated by the learners.
He commended the recipients for their performance and urged other students in the district to remain focused on their studies, emphasising the importance of education in shaping future opportunities.
Although the presentation took place later in the week, the initiative formed part of the district’s back-to-school activities that commenced on Monday and were intended to motivate learners at the start of the academic year.
