Transitional Justice Conference Vital for Peace Building

Africa-Press – Lesotho. The Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Justice Nthomeng Majara, says hosting the 2025 National Transitional Justice Conference marks a positive step in building a peaceful nation.

The DPM said this when officiating a two – day high level Transitional Conference in Maseru starting on Thursday. She stated that this is part of the reform’s agenda, the Lesotho transitional journey building path to sustainable journey and the Lesotho all want and deserves.

According to the DPM, the conference will deepen dialogue suited to Basotho cultural aspirations as well as local contexts, identify why and how national conflicts have emerged while also bringing lasting solutions.

According to the DPM, since 1966 when Lesotho gained her independence, conflicts have turned out to be the order of the day, thus the conference will help in adopting a model suitable to the local context, anchored on gender equality, youth empowerment and inclusivity to avoid recurrence of past experiences.

The DPM commended all for supporting the historic event, citing AU, European Union (EU) including the Ministry of Law and Justice through National Reforms Transitional Office to achieve reforms and reconciliation processes.
