UNFPA CONTINUES TO OFFER A HAND TO LESOTHO

Africa-Press – Lesotho. The Country Representative for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Mr. John Mosoti has met with the Minister of Gender, Youth and Social Development with the purpose of strengthening partnership, discussing key priorities as well as proposing collaborative initiatives.

In his remarks, Mr. Kennedy acknowledged and appreciated the opportunity for the meeting saying the UNFPA will always be a steadfast partner to the ministry as the works of both bodies are deeply aligned outlining in particular the empowerment of women, girls and young people.

He also acknowledged the government’s efforts in youth empowerment emphasising that UNFPA believes in the potential of youth as a force for positive change.

Mr. Kennedy however proposed a collaborative approach to developing youth centres in order to create and dedicate spaces where young people can access a full spectrum of services including sexual and reproductive health information, life skills training as well as entrepreneurship opportunities.
