Africa-Press – Lesotho. The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Country Representative, Mr. John Mosoti, has engaged key leaders from Lesotho’s corporate and development sectors in a dialogue aimed at strengthening partnerships to advance the rights and wellbeing of young people while addressing urgent social issues, including gender-based violence (GBV).
The discussions centred on how the private sector can play a stronger role in complementing ongoing efforts by UNFPA and the government to support youth development, prevent sexual exploitation, and address harassment in society.
Speaking in an interview on Thursday, Mr. Mosoti explained that the initiative was provoked by a shared sense of responsibility both at personal and corporate levels to invest in the future of young people.
He said the meeting offered an opportunity to explore joint strategies that can help create safe spaces for youth and expand programs that build their skills and resilience.
‘Working with partners from diverse sectors is both inspiring and humbling,’ he said.
