Africa-Press – Lesotho. As the Christmas holiday mood continues to prevail, well-kept behaviour, fewer reported crime incidents and strong community collaboration are the main traits that defined this year’s festive celebrations in Koalabata, according to the Area Chief.
Speaking in an interview with the Agency, Chieftainess ’Makhomo Makoanyane said the Community Policing Forum (CPF) in her area worked closely with members of the Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) to conduct regular patrols throughout the festive period.
She indicated that the joint patrols, which were carried out during both day and night, played a significant role in deterring criminal activities such as theft, house break-ins and alcohol-related disturbances, which are usually prevalent during the holiday season.
“The cooperation between the police and community members has been commendable. People were vigilant, reported suspicious behaviour on time and respected the law, which helped us maintain peace,” said Chieftainess Makoanyane.
