Africa-Press – Lesotho. In the heart of Thaba-Tseka, a middle-aged man is proving that one can copy and use other people’s ideas to pave personal success.

Thabo Kopoko, a proud graduate of Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT), is making a name for himself in the technology industry through his business Mega-Techno Services.

While many people go to work somewhere and leave with nothing, Kopoko worked at the internet café as a volunteer and says he did not leave empty-handed. Instead he left with knowledge and the idea that he can go somewhere in life if he creates his own internet cafe too. He became so brilliant!

He went to Limkokwing University to study Information Technology so that he enhances his skills and knowledge on technology in order to be able to open his own internet cafe.

With the qualification of Information Technology, he set up his own internet café offering professional services of interrelated services including printing, photo shooting, electronics, and computer repairs.

Thabo’s passion led to a thriving business, which kept growing on a daily basis. His hand-on skills and dedication earned him a strong reputation and a loyal, satisfied customer base. One of his regular clients, ‘Maseisa Seisa, rates his services as a top quality and says she can never get tired of recommending him to prospective clients.

Another client, Ramona Seabata, echoed Seisa. “I fix the school computers and printers there. Their service is satisfying,” he shared. “What I like most about them is that they are always reliable. Even if you call them on weekends, they will come and still deliver their quality service.”

Seabata urged the community nearby to support this business for it to continue growing.

Kopoko uses social media platforms and posters to further increase his customer base.

He concedes there are a number of challenges to overcome in business.

He remembers how he once struggled to pay rent at his business premises due to low sales.

Moreover, he once experienced a break-in where robbers took away all the business equipment, leaving him dry.

“They left me with nothing. I did not have enough materials to serve my customers and that became a very huge setback for me,” he said.

Instead of giving up, Kopoko searched for investors to replace his stolen equipment and after securing them his business started to gain momentum again and he is also re-investing in the business now. Looking ahead, he dreams of seeing his business as one of the top internet cafes in Thaba-Tseka and he also aspires to open branches in other districts, particularly in the rural areas.

Kopoko has a powerful message to youth, “Do not just wait to be hired, be creative enough to identify anything you come across as a path to create something effective out of it. Learn to take risks to pave for your success.”

He is not just making youth aware that they can create a bright future using other people’s ideas, he is walking a path of new ways of thinking for the youth of Lesotho.
