Africa-Press – Lesotho. In a disturbing development, health authorities have received reports of a strange influenza-like illness afflicting children in Lesotho. According to the director general of health services, Dr Nyane Letsie, authorities have dispatched Rapid Response Teams to investigate clusters of the unknown influenza-like illness in the districts of Maseru, Berea and Quthing.
Initial findings indicate this is not Covid-19 but authorities have not ruled out other respiratory diseases. In a memo to other health directors, Dr Letsie has urged her colleagues in the sector to continue testing for other possibilities such as SARS-CoV-2 and TB, while investigating any samples of this new, unknown ailment.
