Africa-Press – Lesotho. The Head of State, King Letsie III will be awarded in recognition for his role in championing the Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP) as a model of transboundary cooperation for peace, resilience and sustainable development.
The auspicious event to be held in Maseru on Friday will see water delegates in the region and internationally partaking in the ceremony. Botswana President Advocate Duma Boko, in his capacity as Award Committee Chairperson – Global Water Partnership (GWP) will present the award to the King.
Information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations shows that these water delegates to witness awarding ceremony will also be graced by the presence of King Mswati III – GWP Patron as well as Southern African President, Cyril Ramaphosa to mention but a few.
Meanwhile, Foreign Affairs shows that the award is a result of the African Union water investment summit held in South Africa a few months ago, where GWP found the King worthy of the award hence shall be presented to him officially after being received there, on behalf of the King by the Natural Resources Minister.
