Africa-Press – Lesotho. Lesotho Weightlifting Federation (LWF) has elected the new National Executive Committee (NEC) and new members of Athletes Commission team. These are to guide the association
and ensure that LWF goals are achieved. The committees were elected at the federation’s election conference that was held at Lesotho National Olympic Committee (LNOC) on Saturday.
LWF Public Relations Officer (PRO) Anna Shale told Informative Sport on Wednesday that changes have been made in the position of the President and the vice president.
The newly elected President is Ntsu Lephaila and the vice is Paul Mofoka. Asked about her views as one of the re-elected members in the committee, Shale stated that she
appreciates LWF affiliates for trusting her to continue her work as their spokesperson in the committee. “I promise them to take over from where I left and try by all
means to add and improve my performance further,” Shale said. Speaking in a separate interview, Lephaila attested that given his experience in weightlifting, he is pleased and
confident to be elected as LWF president. “I started weightlifting in 2001, I think I am fit enough to be able to manage it, not personally but with the support
from my fellow colleagues,” he noted. Revealing their plans going forward, Lephaila said the main intention is to carry on with the mandate of the federation.
He said the core mandate is to improve the sport and take it to the next level, adding that they have to complete the unfinished projects. “Our main focus is to let this sport to be recognized so that we can get support
from people who are willing to take part as players, spectators and businesses with sponsorships. We plan to increase the boot camps, gyms, competitions, find
new coaches and to also partner with various health departments to insure the wellbeing of our players,” he said. He added that they are also willing to open clubs and museums in different places, more especially in the central
part of the country. He said they are going to accomplish these with the help of international organizations that already assisted with sponsors while others
are bringing the equipment closer for us to operate. New LWF NEC comprise of President Ntsu Lephaila, Vice President Paul Mofoka, Secretary General (SG) Advocate Bothobile
Shebe, Treasure Maliengoane Mothabeng, PRO Anna Shale, Technical Member Development Relebohile Motjamela, Techical Member Athletes Thapelo Sebota. LWF outgoing committee was made up of
President Lebohang Ratšiu, Vice President Ntsu Lephaila, Treasurer ‘Maliengoane Mothabeng, Secretary General (SG) Advocate Bothobile Shebe and PRO Anna Shale.
