Africa-Press – Lesotho. For the second time in a row, Lesotho through the Lesotho Sky Events will, this Saturday host the second edition of the Red Bull Pump Track World Championship Qualifiers at Roma Trading Post.
Talking to Informative Sport, Lesotho Sky Events founder Christian Schmidt revealed that there will be two races; Under 16 competition and Pro- riders’ competition
(official competition) in both female and male categories. According to Schmidt winners
from both male and female races will stand a chance to represent Lesotho at the Red Bull Pump Track World Championship Finals set for September in Switzerland
through an all-expenses paid trip (flights, accommodation and meals). For the under 16 competition, winners will stand a chance to win home various prizes that include bicycles.
Schmidt added that Basotho top three athletes (both genders) plus one representative of the media stand a chance to win an all-expenses paid trip to the South Africa Qualifiers
in Pretoria on July 20th. “We are expecting about 100 riders in total, 90 from Lesotho and ten from South Africa, Namibia and Botswana,” mentioned Schmidt.
Last year the male category was the only category with many riders while the ladies pro-race had only three ladies competing. Lesotho’s ‘Makhotso Paamo became
the winner and qualified for the finals held in Switzerland September last year but due to lack of sponsors she was not able to go. “Paamo is the legal winner of last female competition.
She qualified for the finals, but according to the rules, there should be at least 10 riders in a category in order for one to win the full package. “Beyond
that Paamo was not able to attend due to lack of sponsors. We hope that this year we will see at least 10 ladies in the competition in order for us to, for the first time send someone from Lesotho to the finals,” he continued.
