Africa-Press – Liberia. Global energy major ExxonMobil has expressed interest in four exploration blocks located in the Liberia Basin, south of the Liberian coast.

According to an ExxonMobil official, the company has “filed a pre-qualification application with the Liberia Petroleum Regulatory Authority for offshore blocks.”

This enables the energy major to proceed with the negotiation of a production sharing contract.

The blocks on the table – Blocks LB-15, LB-16, LB-22 and LB-24 – are all located in the Liberia Basin between Monrovia and Buchanan.

The application falls under Liberia’s ongoing direct negotiation process, whereby 33 offshore blocks were opened in 2021 for direct negotiations with the government.
