Africa-Press – Liberia. As part of an ongoing effort to improve the healthcare system in Liberia, a group supporting the political bid of George Abu Miller, the aspirant for Montserrado District #8, has donated surgical equipment, drugs, and other medical supplies to 13 clinics and hospitals in District #8, Montserrado County.

Friends of George Abu Miller, a movement established before the 2017 elections to support Hon. George Abu Miller in his quest to represent the people of District #8 through legislation, oversight, and adequate representation, spearheaded the initiative.

Over the weekend, the team donated medical supplies to 13 health facilities in the district. The items were presented at SD Copper Hospital, one of the beneficiaries of the gesture. George Abu Miller, the Group Executive Director, expressed his gratitude to Friends of Abu Miller in the diaspora for making the donations possible. He highlighted that the group’s ongoing efforts aim to support the improvement of healthcare delivery in District #8.

Miller emphasized that the donation reflects Friends of Abu Miller’s commitment to providing medical and non-medical supplies to hospitals and healthcare centers in the district and throughout Liberia. He stated, “We recognize the sacrifices that healthcare workers make every day. We have selected these 13 health centers to be among our first beneficiaries because they serve some of the most financially disadvantaged people.”

Dr. Theo, the head of SD Cooper Hospital, expressed appreciation to George Abu Miller, the Executive Director, and the group for their support to healthcare facilities across the district. He acknowledged that the donated items would significantly enhance the functioning of the various institutions.

Hon. George Abu Miller also acknowledged the support of various organizations and individuals who have been instrumental in providing and airlifting drugs to Liberia to contribute to the country’s healthcare system.

Furthermore, the District #8 aspirant pledged to reopen the old maternity system, a former major birth center in Liberia during the late 80s and 90s, which was situated on the Capitol bypass.

“I am indeed grateful to the administrators of the various clinics and hospitals for the supporting role they’ve played over the years in ensuring our people have a place to receive medication when they’re ill,” Miller expressed his gratitude.
