Africa-Press – Liberia. Senator Prince Johnson of Nimba County, and political leader of the opposition MDR Political party, has confirmed his voice being on an audio that has gone viral on social media. However, he asserts that the audio has been doctored, and the intention behind its circulation is merely propaganda aimed at causing confusion within the unified opposition collaboration.During a news conference held at his Duport-road residence on Tuesday, the Nimba County Senator described the attempts made by the ruling coalition for democratic change (CDC) as weak. He accused them of combining two statements made under different circumstances to use as a propaganda tool.
“It is unfortunate that the CDC would choose to resort to such weak propaganda. I made a comment on Spoon Talk, specifically directed at Senator Nyounblee Kanrnga-Lawrence, who was also a potential candidate for the position of a running mate to Ambassador Boakai,” said Senator Johnson.
He then went on to explain the situation between Senator Kanrnga-Lawrence and Senator Saah Joseph, recounting an altercation they had when she spilled hot tea on him out of disappointment for a decision she took. Senator Johnson clarified that he has been a consistent supporter of Senator Koung, and he would never say negative things about him. In fact, he emphasized that he is the chair of the governing council of the MDR, and it was him who recommended Koung for the position of running mate to Ambassador Boakai.
The audio that is currently trending on social media features Senator Johnson accusing Senator Jeremiah Koung of being aggressive and arrogant, making him unsuitable for the position of Vice President to Unity Party standard-bearer Joseph Nyumah-Boakai.
On other issues, the MDR governing council chair once again praised himself as the face of Nimba County and promised to deliver the County’s support to former Vice President Boakai, regardless of the actions taken by the ruling coalition for Democratic Change (CDC).
