Empowering Tennis Administrators and Coaches As Tennis Federation Continues International Training in Liberia

Africa-Press – Liberia. A 10 day workshop sponsored by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) for members of the Liberia National Table Tennis Association (LNTTA) is currently on going.The capacity building got underway on November 17, 2023 and is expected to come to an end on the 26 of November.

ITTF senior participating officer Ramzi Ben H. Mabrouk is conducting the 10 day training which is ITTF Developing Member Association (DMA) sponsored program.

Speaking to the Media Liberia National Table Tennis Association president Mr. G. Gbassay Golee highlighted that the 10 day training include administration in sports management, training for coaches in coach education in level one and also for disable athletes.

Says Mr. Golee: “It can be recalled that when I was in Bangkok, Thailand in August of 2023 attending the ITTF General assembly, I made a special appeal for training for our coaches because they have a program called Developing Member Association DMA and the organization just sent senior participating officer Mr. Mabrouk and he is now carrying on the training and the training will last for 10 days.”

He said there will also be a two day technique or tactic training for registered athletes of the LNTTA and the coaches training will last for five days and there will also be a promotional training among students of two schools.

He named the schools as one the Charles D. B. King Elementary school in central Monrovia another school in Paynesville City.

The ITTF senior participating Officer Mabrouk who is heading the training explained that he is in Liberia to help train table tennis administrators, coaches and athletes the important of the rules and principles of tennis.

Mabrouk: “My visit to Liberia is about conducting the DMA activities offered by the ITTF as art of 2023 participation program and consists of comprehensive activities with large range of items like administration, coaches, players and officials and to organize school projects and we are going to teach and organize different kinds of activities.”

He described members of the participating team responses to the training as very encouraging and very proactive.

He added that he is of the conviction that the participants will gain more knowledge from the workshop which he added could help improve their tennis skills.
