National Road Fund Clarifies Former Contractors’ Dismissal Claims

Africa-Press – Liberia. The senior management of Liberia’s National Road Fund (NRF) has strongly criticized what it called a politically motivated disruption of its office activities on Tuesday, January 2, caused by a group claiming wrongful dismissal, including former NRF contractors and unidentified individuals.

The group alleged that CEO Joseta Neufville-Wento wrongfully dismissed them and demanded reinstatement. However, the senior management countered this, terming the claims as “legally groundless and baseless,” clarifying that the contractors’ services ended due to contract expiration rather than termination.

Emmett P. Coker, NRF’s Media and Communications Specialist, stated, “The NRF provided appropriate notices to the affected contractors months ago, complying with legal requirements and contract stipulations.”

Addressing the situation amid the country’s democratic transition, the NRF’s senior management acknowledged potential attempts to exploit the situation for political gain but emphasized their steadfast commitment to professionalism, compliance with laws, and the truth.

Reaffirming their dedication to efficiently managing Liberia’s road fund, the NRF’s Senior Management Team assured the public of their unwavering commitment to the rule of law and operational excellence.

“The NRF remains resolute in its commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism as well as adhering strictly to all relevant laws and regulations,” the senior management added.

The primary objective of the National Road Fund is the financing of road and bridge maintenance across the country.
