Africa-Press – Liberia. Weala, Margibi County—Margibi County District number five Representative Clarence G. Gahr has begun the disbursement of scholarship funds in the tone of L$3Million (Liberian Dollars Three Million) to students of his district.

The disbursement of the funds to schools administrators took place on Wednesday in Weala Town in Margibi County at the Golden Kids International School which is one of benefiting schools with about 60 students forming part of the initiative. The school received L$250,000 as part payment of the total L$500,000 under the lawmaker’s scholarships program.

Rep. Gahr’s scholarships program has a targeted budget of L$3million for the 2023/ 2024 Academy Year with the initial L$1.5million payment being made to schools authorities across the district as part of the first phase.

Rep. Clarence G. Gahr speaking through on his Administrative Assistant, Amara F. Mammy, said the total amount is L$3,027,350.00 of which L$1,350,000.00 was paid with a balance of 1,527,350.00.

Mr. Mammy named the nine benefiting schools as the Golden Kids International in Weala Town, John Wesley United Methodist School, St. Mary Magdalene Catholic School, Woody Foundation and the School of Christ International (SOCI).

Others include the Cinta School of Professional Health Assistant, Assembly Of God Daycare School, Free Pentecostal Global Mission School and David B. Mulbah Daycare School.

Mr. Mammy noted that though the lawmaker had made serious impact in the educational sector of the district during his first term, he promised the said school the money last year when they invited him and he saw the need to support the education of the students.

He disclosed that some of the schools have all their students benefiting while some have selected numbers as beneficiaries.

He revealed that the lawmaker has planned to setup a district school board to be charged with the responsible administering school related matters in the district.

The board, according to Mr. Mammy, when established and launched will be constituted with people from all regions and sectors of the district.

For their part, beneficiaries students extended gratitude to the lawmaker, stating that they anticipate more of his continued support towards the educational sector of the district.

Madam Hawa Staffa, Principal of the Golden Kids International School termed the tuition payment made at her school as timely because the school is currently implementing a project and the money could go a long way in the project completion.

She, however, praised Mr. Gahr for living up to his commitment, especially just after the electioneering process.
