Africa-Press – Liberia. Georgia Wallen, the World Bank’s Country Manager for Liberia, has emphasized the critical role of international collaboration in advancing the nation’s development.

She stated, “Today’s dialogue showcases the strong commitment of both Liberia and its international partners to drive progress forward.”

Wallen made these remarks recently at President Joseph N. Boakai’s first cabinet retreat held at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complex in Congo Town. The retreat was held under the theme, “Coordination and Performance: Delivering on the National Agenda.”

The World Bank Liberia Country Manager commenced by acknowledging the significant presence of international partners.

“The strong turnout of Liberia’s development partners today speaks volumes about their commitment to engaging with the Government of Liberia,” Wallen noted. “It demonstrates their earnest desire to comprehend Liberia’s priorities and support its developmental endeavors.”

She stressed the importance of this collaboration in conveying a message of support to the Liberian people.

“The active involvement of international partners sends a clear signal: they are deeply invested in the welfare of Liberians,” Wallen affirmed. “Our mandate at the World Bank is centered on eradicating extreme poverty and fostering inclusive prosperity, with particular attention to the empowerment of youth and women.”

Wallen urged the participants to steer discussions towards actionable outcomes and cooperation. “Let’s strive for tangible progress and identify areas of alignment,” she urged. “Shared objectives are the cornerstone of effective partnerships.”

Concluding her remarks, Wallen underscored the critical juncture at which Liberia finds itself.

“We are all cognizant of the urgency of the situation, with a mere six years remaining until 2030,” she emphasized. “This period is defining for Liberia, and our collective commitment is paramount in seizing the opportunities it presents.”
