Africa-Press – Liberia. Massa I. L. Gray, a 23-year-old young Liberian, has made a remarkable contribution to Liberia’s educational landscape by launching five impactful books.
The event, held on Tuesday, August 27, in the conference room of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection at the EJS Ministerial Complex in Monrovia, was attended by a distinguished group of individuals.
Among them were Gbeme Horace Kollie, Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection; Olubanke King-Akerele, Chairperson of the Board of the Angie Brooks Centre; and Sister Mary Laurene Browne, the Establishment Coordinator of the Angie Brooks Centre.
Representatives from UNDP, UNESCO, the Ministry of Education, the Liberia Association of Writers, and several academic institutions also participated in the ceremony.
In her presentation, Ms. Gray detailed the significant impact her books are expected to have on Liberia’s education system. She highlighted how her works are tailored to meet the needs of the Liberian education sector and expressed heartfelt gratitude to those who supported her vision.
The first book, “I Am a Liberian & I Am Proud Of My Roots,” is a poetic homage to patriotism, intended to inspire Liberians, particularly the youth, to embrace and celebrate their heritage. It encourages young Liberians to take pride in their cultural roots and actively contribute to national development.
Gray’s second book, “Passion X Purpose: The Driving Force to Any Career,” focuses on personal development and career guidance. It provides valuable insights for students and young professionals on aligning their passions with their career goals to achieve fulfillment and success.
The third book, “The World Needs Solutions To Problems, Not Liabilities To Problems That Already Exist,” addresses character development and proactive problem-solving. It encourages readers to become proactive contributors to global solutions rather than burdens, promoting a mindset of responsibility and innovation.
“Satta and Tamba – Heroes of Self-Worth,” the fourth book, is aimed at mental health awareness and anti-bullying for young children. The story follows two characters who confront and overcome bullying, fostering resilience and acceptance among young readers.
The final book, “Our Present Our Future, Are Linked to the Climate,” is designed for elementary-aged children and simplifies the concept of climate change. It underscores the importance of environmental conservation and aims to empower young readers to participate in protecting the planet.
Minister Gbeme Horace Kollie expressed strong support for Massa Gray’s efforts, encouraging Liberian women to view her as a source of inspiration and to support her endeavors. She emphasized the importance of nurturing young Liberian talent to drive national progress.
Speakers at the event lauded Massa for her literary achievements and the relevance of her books in addressing critical societal issues. They praised her for using her talents to contribute to national discourse, particularly highlighting the importance of her book on patriotism in today’s context.
