Africa-Press – Liberia. PLEEBO, Maryland County — As Liberia prepares to mark Armed Forces Day on February 11, the Joint Security in Maryland County, in collaboration with the Pleebo City Corporation, has launched a massive citywide clean-up campaign across major streets in Pleebo City.
The exercise, conducted on Friday, February 6, 2026, targeted the city’s principal streets and the Pleebo General Market Road. It brought together personnel from the Maryland County detachments of the Liberian National Police (LNP), Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), Liberia Immigration Service (LIS), Liberia National Fire Service (LNFS), Community Watch Forums, and the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) Maryland Station. A brief closing ceremony was later held at Pleebo City Hall.
Speaking at the ceremony, AFL Maryland Station Commander PO1 Aloycious Bondo lauded the joint security personnel for their collective effort in executing the exercise.
“Today marks the beginning of Liberia’s Armed Forces Day activities,” Commander Bondo said. “As we approach February 11, let us continue working together and always put Liberia first.”
He also urged officers to remain vigilant, serve with integrity, and uphold professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
Also speaking, Regional Police Commander for LNP Region Five, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Moses Sepoh, pledged the full support of the Liberian National Police for activities marking the Armed Forces Day celebration.
“The Liberian National Police is proud to be part of this initiative,” DCP Sepoh stated. “We will continue to stand with the Armed Forces of Liberia as we celebrate our country’s Armed Forces Day.”
Meanwhile, Chair of the Joint Security in Maryland County and Commander of the Liberia Immigration Service, Abdul Jallahquay, emphasized unity among the security institutions.
“This togetherness has lasted over time and will continue,” he said. “Liberia is all we have, and working together is the only way forward.”
For his part, Pleebo City Mayor Larry Geekor commended the joint security and residents for taking ownership of the city’s cleanliness, describing the exercise as a strong example of collaboration between city authorities and national security institutions.
“A clean city is a healthy city,” Mayor Geekor said. “We appreciate the joint security for leading by example, and we encourage citizens to maintain this level of cleanliness beyond the Armed Forces Day celebration.”
The clean-up campaign forms part of activities leading to the national observance of Liberia’s Armed Forces Day, celebrated annually on February 11.
