The Commissioner of the Township of Caldwell in Montserrado County Ibrahim Sarpee has called on the people of Caldwell to put on their boots to work develop Caldwell.

According to Commissioner Sarpee, Caldwell is 22 years older than the independent Republic of Liberia and It is no more time for them to sit around and do nothing and only talk.

‘‘Free talking will do nothing. Two hundred (200) years without doing nothing we will not carry us nowhere. We have to start somewhere,’’ Commissioner Sarpee stated.

Making remarks at program marking the installation of the new corps of officers of the Caldwell Visionaries for Restoration and Development (CAVIRD) on Saturday, September 13, 2025 in the auditorium of St. Maria Goretti High School, Upper Caldwell, Township of Caldwell, the Commissioner of Caldwell said when he took over as commissioner he came with a blue print for Caldwell to build a community center, build a magisterial court and to build commissioner offices.

‘‘Because all of these things were not done yesterday, we have to do them today. With the vision of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai we have to do our best in our little corner to see what we can achieve. I want to assure you that I will be with you from house to house, from street to street that we all have to develop Caldwell,’’ he said amid tremendous applause from the audience.

He disclosed that he has a good land that is almost three acres in Caldwell and that part of the land can be used for the construction of a town hall.

Against this backdrop, Commissioner Sarpee pledged an initial contribution of US$500.00 to the funds that were raised at the installation program to help support the organization’s charity program to the sick & needy, community engagement on drugs, sanitation and other emerging concerns.

Meanwhile, Rev. Nelson D. Quaye, Founder of the Grace Christian Fellowship Ministries incorporated in Liberia served as the Installing Officer.

Those installed were Mr. John Adolphus Woods, President, Mrs. Patience Yates Warner, Vice President, Mrs. Lottie Sesay Jallah, Secretary, Mrs. Uomah Brown Witherspoon, Financial Secretary, Ms. Albertine Capehart, Treasurer and Mrs. Catherine Doe Kromah, Chaplain.

CAVIRD was established in 2022 by sons and daughters of Caldwell for the sole purpose of helping to restore lost values and contribute toward development programs and projects in Caldwell.

CAVIRD membership targets individuals who lived in the township of Caldwell prior to the civil war and has the desire to give back to the community as an appreciation for the positive environmental impact Caldwell made on their lives.
