Doe Memorial Regional Referral Hospital (JFD Hospital) has turned a new page in its journey to provide essential healthcare services across southeastern and central Liberia with acquisition four brand new vehicles after enduring nearly ten years without functional vehicles.
On Monday, the hospital proudly inaugurated three brand-new pickup trucks and a 24-seater bus, with the promise of two additional ambulances by December 2025.
The newly acquired vehicles will breathe new life into the hospital’s operations, restoring mobility for staff and enhancing the ability to provide timely care to patients and surrounding communities.
In brief remarks, Chief Executive Officer of JFD Hospital, Dr. Victor Kaizer, said for almost a decade staffs faced immense challenges in delivering care, and the new vehicles symbolized a significant leap forward his administration mission to serve the region effectively.
“For nearly a decade, our institution operated without any functional vehicles, making service delivery extremely difficult,” said Dr. Kaizer.
Accordingly, it reflects on the Boakai-Koung Administration ’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID), which underscores the importance of key sectors such as Agriculture, Roads, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation, and Tourism in fostering national growth.
Dr. Kaizer commended the government for its unwavering support, emphasizing how this acquisition highlights a deep-seated commitment to strengthening Liberia’s healthcare framework.
“ The commissioning of these pickups and bus marks a major step forward for the Jackson F. Doe Hospital and demonstrates the government’s commitment under the ARREST Agenda to improving access to essential services for all Liberians,” Dr. Kaizer stated.
The commissioning ceremony was graced by government officials, including the Mayor of Tappita, who officiated the event, alongside representatives from the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, and local stakeholders who have shown steadfast support for the hospital.
Since taking on the role in 2024, Dr. Kaizer has spearheaded transformative efforts across the hospital, implementing a comprehensive rehabilitation and modernization program aimed at enhancing the quality of care.
Key facilities, including the emergency ward, maternity unit, and diagnostic laboratory, are being upgraded to ensure they meet modern standards and can better serve the community’s needs.
To further the hospital’s mission, a focused effort on recruiting and training qualified medical and administrative staff and ensuring a well-equipped personnel base to provide high-quality care. The introduction of digital health records aims to streamline operations, minimize errors, and facilitate faster, more accurate patient care.
The hospital also is actively expanding partnerships with both national and international health organizations, fostering collaboration and sharing important resources.
Dr. Kaizer believed in the importance of supporting and motivating the hospital staff, as a dedicated workforce is crucial for maintaining high standards of patient care.
