Africa-Press – Liberia. Lions Club of Liberia President Abel B. Sneh has reflected on the club’s service activities from July 2025 to the present, highlighting steady progress across their five pillars of service sight conservation, health, environment, hunger relief and community support despite persistent challenges like funding constraints and rural outreach hurdles.

Speaking at an outreach event in the bustling city of Ganta on Sunday, February 22, 2026, Mr. Sneh outlined key achievements, candidly addressed setbacks and unveiled a redesigned agenda to cap off the Lions year by June 2026.

Surrounded by grateful residents and club members under the warm Nimba sun, he declared the period since July as one of “significant progress,” marked by hands-on initiatives that have touched thousands of lives.

In early August, the club forged a vital partnership with the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) and fellow NGOs, launching nationwide drug abuse awareness campaigns.

These events featured vibrant workshops, street marches and educational skits in schools and markets, reaching urban youth in Monrovia and remote villages alike to combat the rising tide of substance abuse.

September ushered in a wave of compassion with service projects at orphanages and charity homes across Liberia. Monthly visits have since delivered smiles and sustenance everything from nutritious meals to story hours sustaining vulnerable children through the rainy season’s hardships.

This February, echoing a heartfelt visit from last year, Lions members returned to the Ganta Rehab Center and Temple of Hope Orphanage Home.

They offloaded trucks brimming with essential donations including bags of rice, cooking oil, hygiene kits stocked with soap, toothpaste and sanitary pads, plus warm blankets all funded entirely by voluntary contributions from dedicated members.

Children at the temple of Hope Orphanage Home clapped and cheered as boxes were unpacked, their eyes lighting up with rare treats like fresh fruits and toys.

“We choose facilities in real need as our signature projects,” said Mr. Sneh, President of the Cape Mesurado Lions Club. He spotlighted the LPRC Road United Blind Association, where hundreds grapple with vision loss, diabetes, and other debilitating conditions in under-resourced conditions. “

‘‘These people deserve our help,” he emphasized, his voice steady with resolve amid the center’s modest halls echoing with stories of resilience. Challenges persist, including retaining momentum and growing membership in rural heartlands like Nimba, where rugged roads and economic pressures test commitment.

Yet, Mr. Sneh affirmed that Lionism rooted in Lions Clubs International and spanning Liberia’s West Central and North East Africa region remains “a way of life.”

The focus stays laser-sharp on the truly less fortunate, prioritizing sustainable impact over fleeting gestures. Looking ahead to June, Mr. Sneh’s vision sharpens the club’s strategic plan with bold, actionable goals:

Actively recruit from rural hotspots like Nimba to establish vibrant sub-branches, easing the burden on Monrovia-centric operations and fostering local leadership.

Cultivate deep loyalty through mentorship programs, recognition events, and family-inclusive activities to sustain long-term expansion.

Transform a recently secured plot of club-owned land into a state-of-the-art facility a haven offering ongoing medical care, vocational training, and recreational spaces for the disabled and less fortunate, extending beyond one-off signature projects.

“We listen to their stories, earmark their most pressing needs, and act decisively,” he said, inspiring a crowd that included local elders, rehab patients, and wide-eyed youth.
