Democratic Justice Party Plans 2029 Presidential Run

Africa-Press – Liberia. The Political Leader of the Democratic Justice Party (DJP) and a native son of Nimba County, Nyah K. Vehyee, has declared his party’s ambitions for the 2029 Presidential Elections at the People’s Action Party (PAP) Convention held in Bentol, Montserrado County recently.

Mr. Vehyee sharply criticized the Unity Party-led Government for failing the Liberian People.

He said Liberia doesn’t need a president; it needs a leader. Mr. Vehyee, who proclaimed distinguishing self-serving presidents from true leaders who prioritize citizens’ interests, recounted how DJP executive committee members petitioned him last year to run for president.

He said although Senator Saah Joseph later invited his support, Mr. Vehyee said the decision remains pending.

Mr. Vehyee explained the widespread presidential aspirations: “A leader cares for the people, protects their interests, feeds them, loves them and solves their needs.’’ That’s why at this juncture, Liberia needs a leader,’’ he pointed out.

Responding to questions from Nimba County residents about supporting Vice President Jeremiah Koung, whose mother hails from Nimba, Mr. Vehyee questioned his impact, saying “It’s good the VP is from Nimba, but is he caring for Nimba’s people.’’

He gave the Unity Party a failing grade on unity, citing widespread suffering, joblessness, ministerial favoritism and national divisions. “The country is a ‘state of Nevada’ stateless,” he said, referencing marginalized groups like Congress for Democratic Change(CDC) supporters who are “not even counted as human beings.”

On the vice president’s performance, Mr. Vehyee scored it low.

“He may have done some things, but Nimba people are marginalized. Opportunities we expect aren’t benefiting us,” the Political Leader of the Democratic Justice Party asserted. “Nimba made this government; we should expect more,” he said, calling for democratic equity.

Looking ahead, Mr. Vehyee confirmed DJP’s 2029 Presidential Run, highlighting justice as one of the government’s key lapses. The party aims to restore it so “every Liberian stands and knows themselves as citizens.”

He cited cases like former Chief Justice Scott’s dedication amid her murky murder conviction, urging government transparency:

“Tell us if she died alone or if someone killed the woman. Justice will prevail,” Mr. Vehyee wrapped up, adding Liberia needs a leader to unite us and care for every citizen.
