Africa-Press – Liberia. Dr. Flomo added that the development has generated renewed optimism among Bong County citizens both at home and in the diaspora, who view the merger as a milestone achievement capable of reshaping the county’s educational landscape and inspiring similar initiatives across the country
A Bong County native based in the United States of America, Dr. Victor O. Flomo, has praised Senator Prince Moye for what he described as a bold and transformative intervention aimed at strengthening higher education in Bong County.

His commendation follows a significant decision by Senator Moye, who recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding to waive more than USD$ 700,000, paving the way for the merger of his privately owned Sumo Moye Memorial College with Bong County University.

The initiative comes at a critical juncture for the university, which has been facing growing pressure on its infrastructure following its recent elevation to full university status, a change that has led to increased student enrollment and heightened demand for lecture rooms, administrative spaces, and student services.

The merger is widely seen as a timely and strategic response to these challenges, offering immediate relief to overcrowding while also positioning the university for long-term growth and academic expansion.

Speaking on the development, Dr. Flomo, who serves as President of the Bong Diaspora Citizens Association, described the senator’s action as a powerful demonstration of visionary leadership and deep commitment to the people of Bong County.

He emphasized that Senator Moye’s willingness to surrender a significant private investment for the benefit of the community underscores the importance of sacrifice in leadership.

According to him, the integration of Sumo Moye Memorial College into Bong County University is expected to enhance the institution’s academic capacity, broaden its program offerings, and create a more conducive

learning environment for students. He further noted that the move aligns with ongoing national efforts to improve Liberia’s education system, particularly in underserved regions where limited infrastructure has historically constrained academic progress.

Dr. Flomo added that the development has generated renewed optimism among Bong County citizens both at home and in the diaspora, who view the merger as a milestone achievement capable of reshaping the county’s educational landscape and inspiring similar initiatives across the country.

Dr. Flomo stated that the Bong Diaspora Citizens Association extends sincere appreciation and commendation to Senator Prince K. Moye for what he termed an exemplary and selfless decision to transfer his technical college to Bong County University.

He indicated that the move reflects steadfast leadership and a genuine commitment to expanding access to education and opportunity for the people of Bong County.

He also used the moment to acknowledge the senator’s longstanding support for education through scholarship programs that have positively impacted many young people, contributing significantly to the development of the county’s human resource base.

According to Dr. Flomo, these initiatives have played a crucial role in providing educational opportunities to underprivileged students, many of whom have gone on to make meaningful contributions in various sectors.

He reiterated that the Bong Diaspora Citizens Association, comprising citizens living in Canada, the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, and other parts of the world, remains committed to supporting programs and initiatives that promote education, unity, and sustainable development in Bong County.

Dr. Flomo also called on other leaders to follow Senator Moye’s example by focusing on impactful development initiatives rather than engaging in divisive political practices.

He stressed that the progress of Bong County depends on unity, cooperation, and a shared vision for advancement, urging leaders and stakeholders to work together in pursuit of common goals.

He maintained that sustainable development can only be achieved when leaders prioritize actions that directly improve the lives of citizens and address pressing societal needs.

Additionally, he noted that members of the diaspora remain ready and willing to collaborate with local authorities and institutions to support meaningful development efforts, especially in the areas of education and youth empowerment.

He emphasized that through collective responsibility, strategic partnerships, and forward-thinking leadership, Bong County can build a more resilient and prosperous future for generations to come.

“This extraordinary step taken by Senator Prince K. Moye resonates deeply with those of us living abroad because it represents the kind of leadership that places the needs of the people above personal interests. At a time when our county is striving to expand its educational capacity and provide opportunities for its young population, his decision to merge his privately owned institution with Bong County University stands as a shining example of sacrifice, vision, and commitment to progress. It clearly demonstrates that true leadership is measured not by what one accumulates, but by what one is willing to give up for the greater good of society.”

“I feel greatly encouraged and inspired by this development because it highlights the transformative power of purposeful leadership. Senator Moye has shown that meaningful progress is possible when leaders are guided by a genuine desire to uplift their communities and invest in the future of their people. His contribution will leave a lasting legacy in Bong County by expanding access to higher education and creating new pathways for young people to achieve their aspirations. It is my sincere hope that this act will motivate others to embrace a similar spirit of service and unity as we collectively work toward building a stronger and more prosperous Bong County.”
