Africa-Press – Liberia. Nimba County, April 11, 2026 — Nimba County District #5 Representative Kortor Kwagrue over the weekend completed the rehabilitation of a major road linking parts of the county to the Ivory Coast border, fulfilling a key campaign promise aimed at improving transportation and boosting local economic activities.

The project, according to Rep. Kwagrue, is designed to address long-standing transportation challenges that have hindered the movement of people and goods, particularly for farmers seeking access to markets.

He emphasized that improving road connectivity will not only reduce travel time but also enhance cross-border trade with the neighboring Ivory Coast.

Kwagrue further disclosed that the next phase of the rehabilitation, covering the stretch from Gbanwea Junction to Teahplay, is scheduled to commence on April 13, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to expand the district’s road network.

Residents and community leaders have lauded the initiative, describing it as a major relief after years of struggling with poor road conditions, especially during the rainy season when access becomes nearly impossible. Many believe the improved road will significantly boost local commerce and improve livelihoods.

The rehabilitation forms part of Rep. Kwagrue’s broader commitment to strengthening infrastructure development in Nimba County, with a focus on enhancing economic growth and improving living conditions for residents.
