Africa-Press – Liberia. The Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC) has been officially recognized as one of Liberia’s top-performing public institutions after receiving the 2025 Performance Excellence Award under the Government’s Performance Management and Compliance System (PMCS), a recognition officials say underscores the company’s strong institutional discipline, teamwork, and accountability.
The award was formally presented on April 20, 2026 by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr. and subsequently handed over internally by LPRC Managing Director Amos B. Tweh to the Chairman and Members of the Board of Directors during a brief ceremony held at the company.
The recognition places LPRC among the highest-rated public sector institutions in Liberia, highlighting its compliance with performance targets and its contribution to strengthening public sector efficiency and governance.
According to officials, the award is not only a certificate of recognition but also a reflection of the collective efforts of management and staff across the institution.
Presenting the award, Managing Director Amos B. Tweh described the achievement as a product of teamwork, discipline, and institutional commitment to excellence.
“This award is not just a symbol of recognition; it represents the hard work and commitment of our entire team,” Tweh said. “From staff to leadership, everyone played a role in ensuring that LPRC continues to meet and exceed national expectations.”
He emphasized that the recognition reflects a shared institutional culture focused on accountability and performance delivery.
Receiving the award on behalf of the Board, Chairman Aaron J. Wheagar expressed appreciation to management and staff while reaffirming the Board’s commitment to sustaining high standards of performance.
“We are proud of this achievement, but even more encouraged by what it represents—a resilient institution driven by professionalism and integrity,” Wheagar said. “The Board will continue to provide the guidance needed to ensure LPRC remains on this path of excellence.”
He added that sustained success within the institution depends on continued cooperation between the Board, management, and employees.
The ceremony highlighted what officials described as strong institutional cohesion within LPRC, with both leadership and staff working together to uphold operational standards and support national development objectives.
The award under the PMCS framework is part of broader government reforms aimed at improving efficiency, accountability, and results-based performance across public institutions. LPRC’s recognition, officials noted, demonstrates its emergence as a benchmark for effective public sector management in Liberia.
By securing the 2025 Performance Excellence Award, LPRC has reinforced its position as a leading example of institutional performance within Liberia’s public sector, with management pledging to build on the achievement to further strengthen operational standards and service delivery.
