Africa-Press – Liberia. Grand Bassa football and kickball teams are demanding the Bassa Sports Association to pay them their arrears or they will sell the Countyโs bus purchased by Representative Matthew Joe.
The angry players were captured posting on social media demanding their salaries.
Sadly, theyโve placed a note on the bus informing the public that the bus is on sale.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Bassa Sports Association Jerry Vonyegar in a telephone conversation with Ablee-Jay Media said โ we are doing all we can to pay their monies โ.
He furthered โ I am pleading with them to calm down because we are working with the County Authorities to have them paid very soon โ.
The BSA Boss attributed the delay to the lack of funds, adding that theyโre working to solicit funding to have the players paid.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Bassa Sports Association Jerry Vonyeegar has attributed Grand Bassaโs defeat to jealousy, envy and disunity.
Jerry Vonyeegar took on to social media saying โdisunity, Envy, greed, bitterness, party links and jealousy are killing Grand Bassa County slowlyโ.
The BSA boss furthered โto succeed as a county, togetherness or unity is key, adding that Grand Bassa lacks unity, something he says is hampering the County.
โWe will continue to fall behind other counties most of the time. We fought and sacrificed very hard to reach where we stopped, we struggled during justifications for the complete three months without support. Others were staying away because they donโt want others to succeed or get the gloryโ.
Vonyeegar mentioned that the BSA was not supported morally and financially, adding that the teams were not motivated.
โ Others were also staying away because it wasnโt them. If itโs not them, it should not be the others. Canโt we see other counties coming together in terms of national issues like the National County Sports Meet? We served for 3 years and brought some changes on board by qualifying our both teams for SKD 3 times in a row when the team was struggling to reach SKDโ.
He further said, โWe brought the kickball trophy once and took our football team to the semi-final once. Our main target was to bring the football trophy as well but it did not work out. God knows whyโ.
Jerry Vonyeegar stressed that for the very first time, they opened a Mini Store for fans to get their fan materials.
โWe try our best but could not do all alone. To the county leadership, the Bassa Legislative Caucus and the peace-loving people of Bassa, thanks for the confidence imposed in us to serve the BSA. Supt. Janjay Baikpeh, thanks for your endless supportโ.
He added โIf Bassa can get two of you that have the passions for sports, our county will always become champion. To all the members of the Bassa Sports Association (BSA), the Technical Staff, and the players of Bassa, thanks for the wonderful displayโ.
โTo those that were against or in favor of us, we say thank you too. We could not succeed because of the disunity that is in our midst as Bostonians.
