Africa-Press – Liberia. The Acting Head of the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) Elijah F. Rufus, is considered one of the longest-serving immigration Officers with multiple hands-on experiences for the betterment of the Liberia Immigration Service.
Having been appointed as Acting commissioner of LIS following the suspension of then Immigration Boss Steve Zargo, Elijah Rufus was appointed Deputy Commissioner General for Administration (U- 301) by President Boakai along with Former Lofa County Senator Steve Zargo as the immediate boss and head of LIS.
Colonel Rufus has worked with the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) for over twenty consecutive years holding several roles and positions at LIS.
In 2010-2014 as Special Assistant to the office of the Commissioner General, Policy advisor, monitor and supervise subordinate officers assigned in the Commissioner General office.
Rufus has served various positions within LIS, ranging from Administrative assistant, Special Assistant, Chief of Office Staff, Deputy Commissioner General for Administration ( U-300), and now Acting Boss of LIS.
Colonel Rufus holds Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology with emphasis in Public Administration, currently an MPA candidate at the Graduate School of Public Administration, University of Liberia.
Since his preferment as acting U-300, officers of the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) have lauded him for tremendous efforts geared towards the improvement and betterment of officers of LIS.
According to them, Elijah Rufus understands issues confronting the forward match of immigration Officers because he is one of them.
