Africa-Press – Liberia. The Booker-Washington-Institute (BWI) Class of 1987–1990, in collaboration with U.S.-based Villanova University, has donated a 40-foot shipping container of assorted school materials to the BWI in Kakata, Margibi County.
The container, presented to BWI Principal, Mrs. Nancy Freeman, by Mr. Abu Dekontee Sanso, Regional Director (BWI) Class of 1987–1990, contained desks, chairs, tables, bookcases, whiteboards, and other essential supplies sourced from Villanova University in the United States of America.
According to Mr. Sanso, the initiative was spearheaded by the Class of 1987–1990, as a way of giving back to their alma mater and supporting BWI’s mission to prepare students for college, technical, and vocational careers.
BWI Principal Mrs. Nancy Freeman expressed gratitude for the gesture, pledging that the materials will be used to enhance teaching and learning at the institution.
The donation was made possible through efforts of David G. Bantoe, Councilman for Upper Darby’s 6th District in Pennsylvania, who coordinated the shipment.
Councilman Bantoe commended the alumni class and Villanova University for their partnership, noting that the support would strengthen BWI’s role in workforce development and sustainability for Liberia’s next generation of professionals.
He stated that the BWI Class of 1987–1990 will continue to seek opportunities to support the school and contribute to its growth and manpower development. “It is important that our compatriots in the U.S. and across the world give back to BWI,” he urged.
