Africa-Press – Liberia. The Africa Talents Nest (ATN), Inc., a registered non-profit and non-governmental organization dedicated to rejuvenating Liberia’s entertainment industry, has formally called on the Government of Liberia for urgent support in revitalizing the sector.
At a press briefing held on Wednesday, May 28, at the Capitol Building in Monrovia, ATN launched its engagement campaign, targeting national and continental leaders, beginning with President Joseph Nyuma Boakai.
As part of its advocacy effort, ATN submitted a proposal to President Boakai’s Office. The package included what the organization describes as “an innovative idea and a request for support to implement it in the sector’s interest.”
Executive Director Madam Marennie J. Mitchell stated that the press event aimed to galvanize support not only from Liberians at home but also from those in the diaspora.
She emphasized the importance of citizens leveraging any available access to the President’s Office to advance submission and follow-up process.
“I remain confident that the public’s involvement will help us achieve our goal,” said Madam Mitchell.
In a brief off-camera conversation with the press, she stressed the importance of every contribution, noting, “Every effort matters.”
Mitchell referenced forecasts from respected global platforms predicting Africa’s rising prosperity and highlighted Liberia’s responsibility to contribute meaningfully to that future.
She concluded by citing the World Bank’s 2025 Country Economic Memorandum, which warns that Liberia’s current trajectory, marked by a reliance on natural resources and limited human capital, could delay its transition to middle-income status until 2050.
However, the report also notes that with ambitious reforms, including economic diversification, human capital investment, and private sector growth, Liberia could reach lower middle-income status before 2040 and make substantial progress in poverty reduction.
ATN’s call to action underscores the critical role of cultural and creative industries in national development and the importance of government collaboration in achieving sustainable growth.
