Africa-Press – Liberia. Former Justice Minister Frank Musa Dean has urged graduates of the Mother Tegeste Stewart Apostolic Pentecostal Mission School (MTSS) in Brewerville, Montserrado County, to become agents of positive change in their communities, as they transition to broader society.

“This phrase reminds us that with determination, focus, and hard work, we can overcome challenges and accomplish great things. One of the most powerful tools we have to achieve success is education,” Cllr. Dean told the graduates.

According to him, true educators and educated individuals are those who give back to society, rather than cause destruction.

He recalled how, in earlier years, communities collectively instilled discipline in children, a value he observed has eroded over time. Dean therefore encouraged the graduates to uphold discipline, obedience, and devotion to biblical values, such as the Ten Commandments, throughout their academic journey.

The former Attorney General also stressed that education remains one of the most valuable parts of life.

He explained that being educated goes beyond attending school; instead, it means developing knowledge, skills, and values to navigate life wisely, listen critically, and treat others with respect.

“Education empowers us to explore our potential, develop our talents, and prepare for a successful future. It is not solely about earning high marks; it is about becoming the best version of ourselves,” he emphasized.

Dean highlighted several key benefits of education, including: Development of essential skills such as reading, writing, communication, and problem-solving; discovery of personal passions and talents, access to career opportunities and long-term goals.

He at the same time underscored financial stability and ability to support one’s family, and contribution to national growth and innovation, among others.

He praised the school administration for its tireless efforts in nurturing future leaders and preparing students to take on the mantle of national responsibility.

Dean spoke at the school’s 19th commencement convocation, held over the weekend in Brewerville, Montserrado County.
