Africa-Press – Liberia. In a powerful display of patriotism, compassion, and community impact, Bettomax Liberia, one of the country’s leading sports betting companies, joined forces with the Upper league female football club Shaita Angels to celebrate Liberia’s 178th Independence Day by donating essential supplies worth US$1,000 to the Christ Our Hope Orphanage and Mission in Paynesville.

The donation, made up of food and non-food items, was aimed at supporting the basic needs of the orphanage’s children and staff. The initiative forms part of Bettomax’s ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) agenda and highlights the company’s increasing commitment to humanitarian outreach in partnership with women’s football.

“We Believe in Community

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Fallah Briama, Operational Manager of Bettomax, said the gesture reflects the company’s values of giving back and standing with vulnerable populations.

“We don’t just operate a business, we’re part of the Liberian community,” Briama said. “Supporting children, especially orphans, is close to our heart. This isn’t a one-time thing. We’ve worked with hospitals, less fortunate, and now again with our partners at Shaita Angels and Christ Our Hope.”

Briama noted that Bettomax has made similar contributions through its affiliations with Watanga FC and pledged continued engagement with the community in the months ahead.

“We are committed to doing even more. Our country needs collective action, and we’re proud to take the lead,” he added.

“Football for Change

Representing Shaita Angels, Vice President Ricky Teah emphasized the importance of using football as a force for good beyond the pitch.

“This is bigger than football,” Teah said. “As women athletes, we believe in inspiring change. Through partnerships like this, we are showing that sports can uplift lives, touch hearts, and build stronger communities.”

He praised Bettomax for standing behind their mission and being consistent supporters of women’s football in Liberia.

“They’re not just sponsors, they’re partners on purpose,” Teah said.

“A Gift of Hope”

Evans S.J. Bimba, Administrator of Christ Our Hope Orphanage and Mission, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the timely donation.

“This support came at the perfect time,” Bimba said. “Our children may not have families of their own, but on a day like this July 26 they felt loved, seen, and celebrated.”

He called on other Liberian businesses to follow the example set by Bettomax and Shaita Angels, noting that “true independence means lifting others.”

“What they’ve done today is more than charity, it’s restoration of dignity,” Bimba added.

A True Independence Day Celebration

The donation ceremony was held on Liberia’s Independence Day, and the atmosphere was filled with music, joy, and a strong sense of national pride.

What made the event even more meaningful was the presence of the Shaita Angels players, who interacted warmly with the children playing games, sharing stories as they celebrated the country’s 178th year of freedom.

“Seeing the girls in their jerseys playing with the kids brought tears to my eyes,” said Bimba. “This is what Liberia needs more of love in action.”
