Africa-Press – Liberia. The sponsorship, valued at three hundred thousand Liberian dollars, expired on April 30, 2025.
The one-year sponsorship agreement between Bukonjadeh Group of Companies (BGC) and Liberia Football Association (LFA) first-division club Global Pharma FC has officially ended, with BGC confirming it will not renew the deal.
The sponsorship, valued at three hundred thousand Liberian dollars, expired on April 30, 2025. Bukonjadeh formally notified Global Pharma of its decision not to extend the partnership in a letter dated May 23, 2025.
Bukonjadeh CEO Elton Datee Johns explained that the decision followed a board resolution to terminate the sponsorship, citing ongoing conflicts between one of their board members—who is also a company shareholder—and Global Pharma’s leadership.
“We decided to discontinue our sponsorship because there have been repeated incidents where a board member was disrespected by the club president and an executive member,” Johns said. “We hoped the situation would improve, but it only got worse.”
He emphasized that the company cannot continue supporting a team when such issues persist. “The board voted unanimously to end the sponsorship, and we have communicated this formally to Global Pharma.”
However, Global Pharma FC President Sylvanus Morris denied that the deal was terminated and said the sponsorship simply ended upon expiration. Morris thanked Bukonjadeh Group for their support during the one-year partnership and dismissed the claims of disrespect, promising an official statement soon.
