Cabinet Retreat: Nimba County Gives Pres. Weah A Resounding Welcome

Africa-Press – Liberia. A scene of jubilation ensued in Ganta City, Nimba County when a mammoth crowd of well-wishers as well as ordinary citizens gathered on Saturday to give President George M. Weah a triumphant entry as members of his cabinet assemble in the county for a retreat.

Thousands of jubilant citizens of Nimba County were seen with placards displaying statements of welcome and warmth felicitation for the Liberian President and his entourage as they touch down the territorial border of Nimba County.

The gathering of ecstatic Nimbians started from Baila, the town that borders Nimba and Bong County to the City of Ganta, where the four-day Cabinet Retreat is expected to take place.

The heroic welcome from citizens of Nimba County speaks volume of Nimbians support towards the second term bid of President George M. Weah ahead of the 2023 General and Presidential Elections.

Earlier, citizens of Bong County also accorded the Liberian Leader a splendid welcome while he was transiting to Ganta, Nimba County.

With a down to earth display, the Liberian Chief Executive disembarked his official vehicle and greeted the mass gathering of Bonges amidst cheerful applause.

Meanwhile, the four-day Cabinet Retreat is expected to officially begin on Sunday, July 10, 2022 and will be held under the theme: “Pushing Forward for a Better Liberia.”

It will be the first since this year and the third since the incumbency of the CDC-led administration in 2018.

Day-one of the Retreat will feature discussions and presentations on the implementation status of the Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPD), zooming specifically on the National Economy, Revenue Generation, Aid Management and Coordination, and the President’s 2022 Legislative Agenda.

The remaining days of the Retreat will place particular focus and emphasis on issues of accountability and transparency in government, while Ministries, Agencies, and Commissions (MACs) will report to the President on their achievements and plans.

President Weah is also expected to hold separate meetings with MACs.

The Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, Liberia Revenue Authority, Legal Advisor to the President, General Auditing Commission, Public Procurement and Concessions Commission, Internal Auditing Agency, and Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission will provide professional and technical insights on the various thematic topics.

On the final day of the Retreat, the Liberian leader will specifically lead discussions and presentations on coordination and teamwork and will also provide insight on his objectives for the remaining 17 months of his first term.

As part of the Retreat, President Weah will inspect several development projects, specifically the ongoing road projects in Nimba County.
