Africa-Press – Liberia. As part of its corporate social responsibility, the CFAO Group, through its subsidiary in Liberia, CICA Motors, has signed a grant of €9,200 and a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Zondo Town Community Movement Development Initiative (ZTMDI) to embark on a sanitation and health initiative.

Currently, ZTMDI is legally registered as a community-based non-governmental organization in Sayon Town, Montserrado County, where CICA Motors is headquartered.

The CFAO Solidarite boards confirmed the grant award to the local-based NGO in a communication dated June 9th, 2022 to its local affiliate in the country, CICA Motors Liberia Inc. It states that “Your project for the Zondo Town Movement for Developmental Initiatives was presented to the members.”

The communication further revealed that “I am pleased to confirm that CFAO Solidarity will support your project for €5,788. It further explains that the project falls under the health and sanitation category of CFAO social responsibility grants. ”

The signing ceremony, which took place at the CICA Motors Liberia Head Office in Sayon Town on September 20, will commence in October 2022 for the implementation of a six-bathroom latrine, among others.

Emmanuel S. David, Human Resource Officer and Administrative Manager of CICA Motors explained that the grant will support the community and provide proper sanitation as well as promote healthcare for residents in the Zondo Town Community.

“We want to improve the quality of the environment and the quality of life in Zondo Town, where the company operates. So this gesture came at the right time,” he added.

He further said that CFAO is a key player in mobility, healthcare, consumer goods, infrastructure, and energy.

David stated that after an evaluation by the CFAO Solidarite, with support from CFAO’s top management executives, he was impressed with the expected benefit the facility will bring to the community and the country at large.

For his part, ZTMDI chair, Godfread Nyepan, expressed the community’s appreciation to CFAO Group’s local division-CICA Motors Liberia.

“We see this gesture as commendable and will help to bring relief to the community, on behalf of the community members; we want to express our thanks and appreciation. We see your office location here as a blessing to us,” he added.

According to him, ZTMDI over the years has engaged the company, CICA Motors Liberia Inc., to support its initiatives to conduct a series of community sanitation and health awareness programs in the area.

Nyepan said the community-based initiative is ready to develop local infrastructure that supports better living in the Zondo Town community in Sayon Town.

“The right sanitation systems not only minimize health and environmental risks associated with open defecation and poorly managed waste disposal — they can also, in many cases, yield multiple benefits in areas from health to food security, resilient livelihoods, business growth, energy, and ecosystem services,” he added.

Meanwhile, with a revenue of over €6.9 billion, access to 47 of the 54 countries on the continent, and 21,000 employees, CFAO is a key player in mobility, healthcare, consumer goods, infrastructure, and energy.

The Group partners with leading international brands and covers the entire value chain – imports, production, and distribution – in line with the best international standards, drawing on 170 years of hands-on knowledge and local expertise.
