International winger, Chauncy Freeman, has joined the Ghanaian Premier League side Heart of Lions FC, signing a two-year contract.

The former Watanga FC forward and Vice-Captain of the Liberian National Team officially joined the club on Monday, August 18, 2025.

Heart of Lions announced his arrival with the tagline, “Here comes a new Lion, Chauncy Freeman.” The club expects the experienced attacker to add firepower and valuable experience as they prepare for the new season.

In an exclusive interview with FrontPage Africa after his unveiling, Freeman called the move a “new chapter” in his football career.

“For me, this is a fresh challenge and the right step at the right time,” Freeman said.

“I enjoyed my time at Watanga, but I feel I have more to prove outside Liberia. Joining Heart of Lions is an opportunity to test myself in a competitive league and show what I can bring to the table.”

The pacy winger, a key player for Liberia’s national team, stated his focus is to make an immediate impact.

“My target is clear: I want to score goals, create chances, and help the team fight for trophies,” Freeman emphasized.

“Heart of Lions is building something exciting, and I’m proud to be part of that project. For me personally, this deal means growth not just for my career, but also for Liberian football, because every step we take abroad opens doors for others back home.”

Club officials said Freeman’s signing is part of a broader strategy to reinforce their frontline.

In their official statement, the Ghanaian club welcomed the Liberian attacker with optimism: “He is expected to strengthen our attacking play. Welcome to the Lions’ Den, Chauncy.”

This marks Freeman’s return to the Ghana Premier League after a five-year hiatus. He previously played for Inter Allies in 2020.

For Liberian football fans, Freeman’s move highlights the growing presence of local talent on the international stage. For Heart of Lions, it is the beginning of a new era.
